My artwork begins with a word or phrase, that I use as the title. As I write the given title onto the canvas I use my handwriting and the edge of the line as the foundation for each painting. The artwork is intended to be abstract and although the title is literally written onto the canvas, it is not meant to be legible.

From there I add colours and pattern. The palette for each painting is determined through common association with the title word. Meaning, if the chosen word is one that evokes excitement, I might choose to include a lot of yellow or red within the artwork.

The concept behind my associations is whatโ€™s most important. Itโ€™s how I identify the good work from the bad. I want people to read the title, look at the work and just get it.
